Hydraulic & Water Systems CFD Projects

Hydraulic CFD simulation resolves free-surface and pressurised water flow in detail, so water infrastructure can be assessed beyond what empirical formulas allow. These projects include wind-driven circulation in dam reservoirs, open channels with measurement weirs, and flow through porous rock-filled gabions. VOF free-surface and porous-media models predict water levels, head–discharge behaviour, energy dissipation and the downstream velocities that drive scour. Where standard hydraulic relationships exist, results are checked against them to build confidence before design decisions are made. The outcomes support civil and water engineers, and research laboratories, in sizing structures, placing measurement points and identifying where protection or geometric changes are needed.
